Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before submitting a website for review.
The website that you submit must have a clear and obvious connection to Southern Africa.
It is not sufficient that the website's designer or owner is South African, or that an international website distributes its products in Southern Africa.
The entire website must have strong relevance specific to Southern Africa, and its primary market or focus must be Southern Africa.
You must be the owner or the owner's appointed agent of the website.
You and/or the owner must have all rights necessary to publicly display the content of the website and to submit it for review at SA Web Awards.
Websites containing or promoting content that is of an adult-oriented nature, is sexually explicit, pornographic, violent, racially or ethnically objectionable, or is otherwise offensive to the online community will not be considered.
Websites containing profane or inappropriate language or imagery will not be considered.
Websites that promote gambling or similar activities will not be considered.
Websites containing or promoting content that infringes on any third party's intellectual property rights, copyright or confidentiality agreements will not be considered.
Websites that promote spamming, flaming or similar activities will not be considered.
Websites that contravene these terms and conditions will not be reviewed by SA Web Awards and no notification will be given.
Websites that require custom applications to be downloaded and installed will not be considered as we have no way of verifying the safety and authenticity of these programs.
Websites that contain password-protected areas may be excluded if a significant part of the website's functionality resides within the password-protected area unless SA Web Awards is provided with some means of logging into the password-protected area for evaluation purposes.
At SA Web Awards we are looking for design originality and creativity.
Please do not submit any websites that are based on somebody else's template or theme, unless you have significantly enhanced the template.
Please do not submit any websites that are rebranded or white-labelled websites.
We reserve the right to revoke any award given if the website is found to be based on an off-the-shelf template with little of your own design creativity added.
Website Review Process
SA Web Awards will ensure that your website is reviewed if it complies with all of these terms and conditions.
Websites that do not comply with these terms and conditions will not be reviewed, and review credits will not be returned under these circumstances.
Websites submitted to SA Web Awards are evaluated by at least 3 judges who are picked at random from the pool of judges.
It is therefore probable that similar websites (or websites that are resubmitted) will be reviewed by different groups of judges.
As a result, website review scores may vary.
SA Web Awards is under no obligation to re-review any website or perform any investigation into why a website received the score it did.
We aim for a 3 to 4 week turnaround time for website reviews.
However, if you submit more than 2 websites at a time then the time taken for the additional website reviews to be completed is likely to be longer than 4 weeks.
This is to allow other websites that are submitted after your initial 2 websites to also have a chance of being reviewed within a 3 to 4 week timeframe.
Resubmitting a Website
Websites that have already been reviewed by SA Web Awards and are then resubmitted for a second review will not be reviewed again unless substantial changes have been made to the website.
If your website did not score as well as you expected then we highly recommend that you order the full report for your website and implement the changes recommended before resubmitting your website.
Instructions for ordering the full report for your website are included in the email you receive after your website has been reviewed.
Only a website's owner or designer may order the full report.
Reference to Websites
By submitting your website to SA Web Awards you grant permission to SA Web Awards to make reference to your website by name, by URL (address), by quoting content, by displaying screenshots, or by a description of your website or part(s) of your website.
Reference to your website may be made by, but is not limited to, listing your website on our Recent Winners page, by referring to your website in our newsletters, articles and other publications, by referring to your website as part of a third-party article that SA Web Awards contributes towards, or by listing your website on our Facebook page.
You acknowledge that SA Web Awards will not be held liable for infringing on your website's copyright by making such references.
If you have any questions or concerns about how we may refer to your website, please contact us.
Acceptance of Award
If your website wins an SA Web Award then you may display our official award logo on that website.
If you choose to display the official SA Web Awards logo then it must contain a link to our website as provided by us for verification purposes.
SA Web Awards reserves the right to change the SA Web Awards logo from time to time.
An SA Web Award is usually valid for the lifetime of the website to which it is awarded.
SA Web Awards reserves the right to withdraw an SA Web Award if the website is found to be in breach of these terms and conditions.
SA Web Awards reserves the right to withdraw an SA Web Award if the website's layout or functionality changes substantially or for any other reason that SA Web Awards deems fit.
For example, if you develop a new version of your website which, in the opinion of SA Web Awards, is inferior to the original website that received the SA Web Award, then SA Web Awards may withdraw its award.
If an SA Web Award is withdrawn for any reason then that website may no longer display the official SA Web Awards logo.
SA Web Awards reserves the right to update these
terms and conditions from time to time.
